PDF Metadata Editor

See and edit the hidden details stored inside a PDF. Your file stays on your device.

  • Runs in your browser
  • No sign-up
  • No watermark

Every PDF can carry details such as a title, an author, a subject and keywords. Search tools, reading apps and the tab title of your browser use them. This editor shows what is in your file and lets you change it, or remove it before you share the document.

Only the standard document information fields are edited. If the PDF also contains a separate XMP metadata block, that block is removed when you save, so old details do not show up in some viewers. The pages themselves are not changed. Your file is handled in your browser and is not uploaded.

How to use PDF Metadata Editor

  1. Choose a PDF from your device, or drop it onto the box.
  2. Read the current details and edit any field. Select Clear all fields to empty them.
  3. Select Save changes.
  4. Download the new PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The details are read and changed in your browser, and the file never leaves your device.

What can I edit?

Title, author, subject, keywords, the program that created the document and the PDF producer. The creation and modification dates are shown, and the modification date is set to now when you save.

Can I remove my name from a PDF?

Yes. Clear the author field, and the creator and producer fields if you want, then save. Other places that may still hold a name, such as text on the pages, are not touched.

Do the pages change?

No. Only the document information is edited. The page content stays the same.

Why does another program still show the old title?

Some programs read the separate XMP block. This tool removes that block on save, but a program may also use the file name or cached data. Reopen the saved file to check.

Can I edit a password-protected PDF?

No. Remove the password first, then edit the details.
