Add a Watermark to a PDF
Add words such as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL to your PDF pages. Your file stays on your device.
- Runs in your browser
- No sign-up
- No watermark
PDF Watermark stamps text across the pages of a PDF. Choose the words, font, size, colour, how see-through it is and the angle. Put it once in the centre, along the top or bottom, or repeat it across the whole page. You can apply it to every page or only to a range.
The watermark is added as ordinary page content, so anyone with PDF editing software could remove it. It is a visible label, not security. Only Latin letters, numbers and common symbols can be used, because the PDF uses built-in fonts. Your file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.
How to use PDF Watermark
- Choose a PDF from your device, or drop it onto the box.
- Type the watermark text and set the size, colour, opacity, angle and position.
- Leave the page box empty for every page, or enter pages such as 1-3, 7.
- Select Add watermark and download the new PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The watermark is added in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
Can I use an image or logo as a watermark?
No. This tool adds text only.
Can I write in Cyrillic, Arabic or Chinese?
No. The tool uses the standard PDF fonts, which cover Latin letters, numbers and common symbols. If you type other characters, you get a message and nothing is changed.
Can the watermark be removed again?
Yes, by someone with PDF editing software. It is drawn on the page like any other content, so treat it as a visible label rather than protection.
Does it cover the text underneath?
It is drawn on top of the page. Lower the opacity so the page text stays readable through it.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Enter pages such as 1-3, 7. Leave the box empty to mark every page.
