CSV to Excel Converter

Make a proper .xlsx workbook from CSV. Your data stays on your device.

  • Runs in your browser
  • No sign-up
  • No watermark

Paste CSV or choose a file and download an .xlsx workbook that opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets. Numbers and true/false are saved as real values, dates like 2024-05-31 become Excel dates, and the header row can be bold and stay visible when you scroll. Values such as 007 or long ID numbers are kept as text.

The file is built in your browser and not uploaded. The result is a single sheet with no formulas or charts.

How to use CSV to Excel

  1. Paste your CSV, or choose or drop a file.
  2. Leave the delimiter on automatic, or pick one, and name the sheet.
  3. Choose whether the first row is a header and whether numbers and dates should be converted.
  4. Download the .xlsx file.

Frequently asked questions

Is my CSV uploaded?

No. The workbook is created in your browser.

Why not just open the CSV in Excel?

Excel guesses the format when it opens a CSV and can change values, for example dropping leading zeros or turning IDs and codes into dates or scientific numbers. Here you control that, and you get a normal .xlsx file.

Which values become numbers and dates?

Plain numbers, true and false, and dates written as YYYY-MM-DD, with an optional time, are saved as real values. Numbers with leading zeros or more than 15 digits stay text. Untick the options to keep everything as text.

Do accents and other alphabets work?

Yes. Text is stored as Unicode, so accents, Chinese, Arabic and emoji are kept. Files that are not valid UTF-8 are read as Windows-1252.

Are there size limits?

An Excel sheet holds up to 1,048,576 rows, 16,384 columns and 32,767 characters per cell. The tool tells you if your data goes over. A file with 50,000 rows converts in a few seconds on a typical computer.

Can it make more than one sheet?

No. It creates one sheet, and you can choose its name.
