DOCX to HTML Converter
Turn a Word document into clean, simple HTML. Your file stays on your device.
- Runs in your browser
- No sign-up
- No watermark
This tool reads a .docx file and writes plain semantic HTML: headings, paragraphs, bold, italic and underline, links, bulleted and numbered lists, and tables. You can check the result in a preview, copy the code, or save it as an .html file. The document is read in your browser and is never uploaded.
It converts content, not page layout. Fonts, colours, margins, headers, footers, text boxes, comments and tracked changes are not carried over, and old .doc files are not supported.
How to use DOCX to HTML
- Choose a .docx file, or drop it onto the box.
- Tick Include images if you want pictures embedded in the HTML.
- Check the preview and the HTML source.
- Copy the HTML, or download it as a file.
Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded?
No. The file is opened and converted inside your browser, so it never leaves your device.
What is kept in the HTML?
Headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript and subscript, links, bulleted and numbered lists, tables and line breaks. Images are included if you turn that option on.
What is not kept?
Page layout, fonts and colours, headers and footers, footnotes, text boxes, comments and tracked changes. Deleted text from tracked changes is dropped, and inserted text is kept as normal text.
Can I convert an old .doc file?
No. Only .docx files are supported. Open the .doc file in Word or LibreOffice and save it as .docx first.
How are images handled?
If you turn on Include images, PNG, JPG, GIF and WebP pictures are embedded in the HTML as data URIs, which makes the file larger. With the option off, images are left out.
Why are some headings missing?
Headings are found from Word styles such as Heading 1 to Heading 6 and Title. Text that only looks like a heading because it was made big and bold is converted as a normal paragraph.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no daily limit.
